Area Law Enforcement
Around fifty cars have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Cars, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Law enforcement state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.
The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.
Police then discovered many other marked automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials report preliminary tests suggest the fluid was probably human blood.
"Currently there is no indication as to its source; authorities are currently not informed of any injuries in relation with the event," they added.
Municipal representatives stated they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the community for details.
An important representative commented the vandalism left him without words and had to be addressed quickly.
"This event hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the extremist violent incident half a decade ago," he stated on online, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a assailant aiming at people of immigrant origin in 2020.
